If you do try the suggestion of using 64-bit Calibre, don't worry if the conversion seems to have hung up. It will complete if you just leave it, but something that runs out of memory on 32-bit Calibre is probably going to take a LONG time to convert. Probably several hours; maybe even a whole day. Just wait, and it'll do it eventually.
