Deconstructing your iLiad's MAC address and serial number

This is a follow-up to our earlier discussion regarding the serial of the iLiad.

Your serial looks like this:
Code:
ER010000xxxx-24
AAAABBBBCCCC-DD

AAAA = always ER01: your iLiad model number
BBBB = always 0000
CCCC = hex number: your unique serial number
DD = always 24
Interesting is CCCC, which is not only your unique serial number, but also makes your MAC network address!

Your MAC address looks like this:
Code:
00:16:7C:00:xx:xx
AA:AA:AA:AA:CC:CC

AA:AA:AA:AA = always 00:16:7C:00
CC:CC = your unique serial number
Example:
Code:
If your unique serial number is EDC, your iLiad's serial number would be
ER0100000EDC-24

and your device's MAC address would be:
00:16:7C:00:0E:DC
