It's thumbnails to be truthful that takes up so much space. It generate every thumbnail of every book in the cloud. It's bad programming. They could generates thumbnails as you browse then give you a cache option to clear once it's too big. They do this on the music app or use to. Instead you have all this wasted space.
On the early Kindle Fires this was a huge problem because there was only 1GB of space for them. They did something after many users reported the issue to where the newer Fires don't have this problem.
I was hoping this to be fixed in the new app as well. My Kindle app data on my Fire is only 800MB compared to Android 2.23GB that does not include the new cache which gets bigger with each browse of recommendations.
