Sony PRS-505 does have an SD card slot. So you can copy ebooks in rtf format on the SD card, insert it to the reader and read them.
Sony PRS-300 doesn't have an SD card slot, but you can use an old version of Calibre. This is why Calibre was originally made by Kovid Goyal - to connect to the Sony PRS-500 readers.

By the way, I think that PRS-500 was the only one where you needed a special app to connect to the reader. All the rest of Sony Readers you could just connect to a PC and access them as it they were an USB memory stick.
