JSWolf - Thanks for the suggestion.
I didn't mention that I did the full install in a virtualized environment since it helps to keep the system and registry clean. So, Safe Mode is not available to those programs that I've installed in this manner.
However, since the Portable is an exe file, I am able to try to install it as if it were a full setup via virtualization, but it failed, whereas the msi file did at least complete and run (once).
