x64 is not an option on my current hardware and re-installing the OS is something I don't care for. The system has been running well for years with all types of Windows, Adobe, cad, publishing, etc, and I don't have issues of this type with any. That includes Calibre 2.85, which I continue to use.

Thing is, if you go 64-Bit Windows now, you fix whatever is broken such that Calibre isn't working and you get access to more memory for Calibre. I know it's a pain to start over, but it's worth it.
