I believe that you know how your code is supposed to behave, however something has definitely changed from 2.x to 3.x in how Calibre (at least, the Portable version) installs. I don't know if there is something unique to my use of Win 7N (the non-media version).

As I said in my first post, I have tried to upgrade from a working, existing 2.x folder; likewise I have created new folders for a clean install on the same and different drives where I have full admin security permissions.

I can continue to use the 2.85 version, but it would be nice to get current.
