Even in stock Android, no passcode should automatically equal no lockscreen. But at least you CAN disable swipe-to-unlock on Android (even though you shouldn't need to).

I have not yet opted out of ads on my new Fire 10, but have been considering it. Are you saying that if one opts out of ads, and do not have a password enabled, that you still must swipe? That is certainly not the way it works on kindle ereaders. If that is the case, then I will just stick with the ads.
