Calibre uses the Temp (Tmp) folder for the book under edit, the restore (undo) buffer.

Original_EPUB if still enabled. That's 3 to 4 times the book size
AND
if your system is low on RAM, Swap file (pagefile)

Thanks for your response.
Last night, I increased the swap file size from 13?0MB to 1900MB and don't know yet if that will help or not.
Permissions to the temp folder are for Administrators; I'm the administrator, so I don't think that's the problem.
Last month, I added another 8GB RAM chip to have a total of 16GB, which hasn't made any difference in my computer's performance.
I haven't run chkdsk yet but will probably do so in the near future. I haven't seen any other problems that would indicate there is a hard drive problem, though.
The other day, I sprayed all the dust out of my computer and checked all the cables, etc.
The second time this happened, I was editing one 1841KB epub file. The first time this happened, I believe I was editing a 61MB file that took about 60 hours to fix all the formatting and lots of other things. When I'm editing a large file like that, I have to exit Calibre now and then and restart the computer, since Calibre uses tons of memory and tends to crash often.
A few days ago, I finally did some research into the problems I was having with Calibre being very slow and crashing (for example, the Book Editor sometimes closes suddenly while running some feature, like Check Book, Smarten Punctuation, Save File, etc, and it was running very slowly with large files), and found the Calibre Cache folder, which contained many folders from previous crashes. I ran CCleaner, which only deleted some of the old folders, and then I deleted the rest of the Calibre folders manually. The slowness problem went away after I did that. I'm now checking the Temp folder regularly to make sure the Calibre folders get deleted upon exit of Calibre. But this new "Not enough space" problem has me puzzled.
