My experience with the Sony Librie says it can get faster.

I've got an informal performance test I'm calling the "Jack Rabbit Speed Test". The document can be found here: http://www.ejackrabbit.com/p/JackrabbitBoxLunchMenu.pdf

The document took forever to open under 2.5, takes even longer to open now under 2.6 (really shows off the Startrek scanner thingy), but you can flip forwards and backwards inside it quickly now. I suspect XPDF is not heavily optimized for decoding images out of PDF's...
