And I actually returned it after 30 days, but I'd purchased it within the holiday period when they were offering a "return window" on purchased stuff through like the end of January. When I looked at my order at the time, it clearly had said that my return window was open until then.
Anyway, so I heard back from them, and they didn't actually provide any details as to what that additional charge was for; they said that "they will make an exception", and refund me the balance.
So, while I'm still curious as to what the problem was, I guess I'll just leave well enough alone and be happy about the refunded balance...

Your changing your mind would account for you having to pay return shipping. If it had been defective, they would have given you a shipping label. (ask me how I know!

)
However, the fact that they did make a 'one time exception" and refund the balance, tells me they realize it was their mistake.
And it also reinforces my opinion that Amazon customer service RULES!
