As an oldie, I used to try smaller fonts to get as much text on a page as possible, and while I could read it, it just didn't feel comfortable.
Then I thought - Why do I need more text on a page anyway? It's not exactly hard to turn over, using just a press of the thumb on my Voyage.
So for over a year I've been using size 7 Bookerly, which was very comfortable to read.
I've just installed the new update, and still in Bookerly have increased bold to 1 and reduced size to 6, and first impressions are that it's even more comfortable to read.
So I for one am very pleased with it

I'm 76 years old and I usually read with Bookerly and font size 3 or 4. I prefer 4 but I can read fine with size 3. Now that I can bold it a bit I may use 3 more often.
And I'm not trying to get more text on the page. I set the margins to their widest to give me the narrowest text I can get. I learned about this by reading on my phone with it's narrow screen. I just seem to read faster that way.
