Yeah, pngshow (the hack I wrote to display PNG with transparency, rotation-agnostic) doesn't seem to work for the Glo HD (and other readers?) for some reason, same issue as with my screensaver hack (also using pngshow) that also works on my H2O but not for Glo HD users.

I don't have a Glo HD so it's difficult for me to find out the cause. And pngshow is an awful hack anyway. I wish there was something better, but the program Kobo itself uses (pickel) only does raw data images? which are huge, and slow, and there's no transparency... and it messes up the display rotation so everything else stops working too. Maybe I should wrap it in a display rotation restorer script. That's if the rotation is not the reason for it not working on the Glo HD. Ugh.

Basically I don't have a solution for this problem right now.
