If I'm typing titles in, then sure, that makes sense. Much of my Calibre library consists of Egyptology journal articles with titles such as (picking a random example) "The Oath sḏfȝ-tryt in Papyrus Lee, 1, 1". It would be extremely difficult to re-type such titles as ASCII, and would seem to offer little or no benefit.
