Kindles do not support nested folders.
The firmware has a flat world view of directory structure under /documents.
Nor do they support nested collections if that is what you have in mind.

With some instances of 5.8.9.0.1 it can be jailbroken.
Go directly to step 5 - try that.
If it doesn't work, then you do not have an instance of 5.8.9.0.1 that can be jailbroken.
