Then I realized I had been using a generic USB cable with it, so I decided to try the cable that shipped with the unit. To my shock, the connection problems seem to have gone away (hard to be positive, since they were intermittent).

Has anyone else has this experience with the H2O Edition 2?

I also have an H2O Edition 1, and it doesn't care what cable I use. I wonder why the Edition 2 is so picky.
I have gone through quite a few USB cables with micro-B connectors and they tend to be flaky. I've found a few that work reliably with all my devices and stick with those. I've had cables that only worked with a Samsung phone, a Kobo, a Nexus tablet or a Kindle. Some that worked with all my devices but either were unreliable on the initial connection or dropped the connection while transferring files and others that only worked when the moon was in the right phase.
