Yes, sometimes there is a performance problem with a few things when reading. Closing the book, opening the ToC, opening the settings and opening the book details are the places I've seen it. It isn't consistent, but once it starts, it seems to keep happening. Restarting the device seems to fix it for a while

Yes, opening the annotations menu does trigger a full refresh on the next page turn. I think it was needed with older firmware or devices, but, I don't think it is now. Or at least not with my Aura ONE. But, it is much better than that double flash.
