This month's free Logos book is none other than the Romans volume of the Anchor Yale Bible. In case someone isn't familiar with the AYB, each volume is a translation and commentary by a genuine expert. If you don't already have a Logos account, this book alone is worth creating one. If you don't care to download the PC software or mobile app, you can still read the book online at biblia.com.

The commentary discusses the theology and textual issues of each verse in excruciating detail. The $80 hardcover is 793 pages. In all seriousness, my breath caught when I saw this month's freebie.

If you're willing to spend another $5, there are two add-on books this month, both of which are other volumes of the Anchor Yale Bible, Habakkuk for $1.99 and Galatians for $2.99.

These aren't standard ebooks and "The Tools" won't liberate them, but as far as I know, Logos is the only source of electronic editions of these books. I normally refuse to buy any such books, but I'm setting aside my principles today.

If you're creating an account anyway, you might as well grab the free Verbum book, Augustine of HIppo's Faith and Works. Verbum is Logos's Catholic-oriented site, but books bought there appear in your Logos account, software and apps.
