Eureka.
I found a way to test some behaviour as monitor on the MaxCarta not just for my system - for any operating system, actually. The thing is, I was puzzled because the delay I experience with my configuration of the combo x11vnc+bVNC appears to be too much, so I was also testing other VNC set-ups: I remembered that virtual machine systems include VNC connections for management.
So, I tested the VNC server embedded in VMware, still using bVNC as a client; I tested Win7 and some live Ubuntu. It does work well, probably better then x11vnc+bVNC.

I am not sure what you will do with this information - it is interesting because it allows to do some more comparisons between remote desktop systems, and in the end to try to understand what is the best that one can expect from the MaxCarta (and his smaller but equipotent brothers) used as a monitor.

Nonetheless, if windows users out there have not yet tried their "Remote Desktop (RDP)" server with the aRDP client, I encourage you to do so.
