You beat me to it! I also have the Lenovo A10-70 and it's a wonderful, reliable, and rugged device that I bought with a matching bluetooth keyboard for around $200 US. I liked it so much that when my wife asked for an 8 inch tablet, I bought her the 8 inch Lenovo.
The A10-70 isn't their fancy high end "Yoga" tablet. This is a not very sexy, but well built, generic Android device.
I like to use it in 2 column mode with the Kindle Android app. It renders 2 pages at a time and is very much like reading a book in that regard. Graphics are very good. It's my go to device whenever I need to look at maps, photos, and charts when I read.
There is no need, in my mind, to spend the money on an iPad for just ebook reading and surfing the internet. Take the extra money an iPad would cost and treat yourself to some books you wouldn't normally buy because of their cost.
