canpolat - some further ideas
Have a look in FAQ and see if anything might apply. Problems often manifest themselves in different ways. In particular these three items from
FAQ - Miscellaneous
- calibre is not starting on Windows?
- calibre freezes/crashes occasionally?
- Using the viewer or doing any conversions results in a permission denied error on Windows
Especially these suggestions:
- run in safe mode - could be interference from a third party prog in startup etc
- turn your AV off - could be it's preventing access
- install the 32bit version, no need to uninstall the 64bit, it will use the same configuration and libraries - from the FAQ.

On some 64 bit versions of Windows there are security software/settings that prevent 64-bit calibre from working properly. If you are using the 64-bit version of calibre try switching to the 32-bit version.

That should probably be "On some 64bit versions installations there are . . ." - I don't think it has ever been tied down to a specific version, it may be a specific patch.
