No hack that I know of to display the time/clock.

The clock (which is not very accurate over days) was meant to allow the auto-connection to the Gemstar servers and download catalogs with new books, at off-times.

It serves no real purpose anymore as www.eBookwise.com does not send New Arrivals notices via the ETI servers; only via web blasts.

BTW, the REB1200 also has a clock and it even can be used as a quasi-alarm clock. Check this posting for info on that.
