If your requirement is a monitor, wait for a device that works well to that aim - before that time, see what Android can do for you if you want to work on EPD.

You're right. I also forgot that you can just physically attach the tablet to your laptop screen and voilá it's portable. A chromebook would be neat indeed but I think not on their agenda
