You see how many cake pops I have been around.
I see my thought was better than the real thing. Pour the batter into molds, bake and then put sticks in them. Or use the molds you can put sticks in and bake that way.
I should put together a small appliances guide myself.

Saw these today at Stew Leonard's, cooked the way you described (although I'm unsure whether the sticks were inserted before or after baking) and then frosted in Halloween colors. They looked yummy. Not at all mushy.
