Yeah, I don't think the Oasis is poorly designed at all. But I do think that the design doesn't justify the price over the equally nice Voyage.
There are several Android based e-readers that would meet all your requirements, including page turn buttons. The Icarus Illumina line for instance.
I don't have first hand experience with any of these devices, since in the US they are rarer than hen's teeth. But might be worth looking into.
