The Coming of Cthugha by the late British author John Glasby (
ISFDB,
Wikipedia,
obituary at The Telegraph) is the 1st novel in his Dark Armageddon trilogy of Lovecraftian science fiction horror thrillers with mystery and conspiracy thriller elements, starring a number of individuals recruited into what turned out to be a plucky secret Organisation of intellectuals trying to prevent the stars coming right, this one kicking off said recruitment of one individual, a nephew looking into his uncle's disappearance and unraveling the trail of clues sparked by examining an odd manuscript, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Venture imprint.
This is one of their original publications by an established author, selected posthumously from his extensive literary estate. We've previously received the
3rd novel as a freebie as well.
The story is based directly upon the extended Cthulhu mythos originally created by the late H. P. Lovecraft, and the title character of Cthugha (hopefully not actually appearing in the story just yet, for the sake of the other characters' sanity) created by August Derleth sports a quote from one of Glasby's pulp fiction stories on
its Wikipedia page.

Description
Horrors from the Deep
Horrors from Space…
Human history is not what we thought it was…
When Doctor Edmund Trevelyan goes missing in Cornwall, his nephew discovers a manuscript that poses more questions than it answers.
Charnwood House, a mysterious mansion and former residence of a colleague of the doctor, is the last place he was seen in person. Four years have passed, and still no news. Delving into the manuscript, the nephew unravels a cryptic maze of clues that are too strange to be true.
But they are…
What follows is a gripping science fiction mystery, as we learn of Trevelyan’s encounters with an intriguing archaeological site, a mysterious astrological observatory and a labyrinth of ancient cosmology.
Trevelyan must traverse the universe for more information to solve the mystery of human mythology, the origins of all of our legends and the truth behind everything we once thought to be mere fable.
But what is coming? Why is this so important to his colleague, Professor McKinrick?
Could it mean the end of the World as we know it?
Join with Trevelyan as he uncovers the secrets of history, of time travel and of the unknown roots of humanity buried deep beneath the Earth.
The Coming of Cthugha is a gripping science fiction mystery, told in the vein of the Lovecraftian Mythos. It is the first book of a trilogy.
