Shongum, NJ (USA)
An unincorporated community in Randolph Township, NJ, just west of Denville. Best known for Shongum Lake, which was formed when a dam was placed on the Den Brook in 1758 by Robert Young, who had purchased the land from William Penn to operate an iron forge. Shongum Lake has a reputation for having an abundance of black bass and small mouth bass, perch, pickerel, blue gills and crappies.
