Than the ORIGINAL Fire 7, the gen 1?
Yes. We still have a gen 1, and if nothing else, the new Fire HD 8 is thinner and lighter. I'm sure it's a better screen and better performer overall, but my wife is the user, and does not have much of an opinion on that stuff.
