You can make cases for both
My GF dropped a 1000 page paper book into a fountain a few days ago. Now the book is about twice as thick as it should be, and it's basically ruined. Had she been reading on an H2O or a KA1, then wiping it off would probably have been enough. I also can't count the number of paperbacks with a broken spine I've seen in her book case... none of my ebooks ever breaks during reading.
