By itself it seems highly overpriced. But you have to see it in context with the family of Kindles. It exists to bolster the sales of the Voyage and possibly the Paperwhite. That is usually why high end models exist, to make the previous high end look more attractive. It exploits a fallacy that many people fall into that the mid-end is the sensible, intelligent choice. A few crazies with loads of money to spend will buy the Oasis sure but that's not really why it's there. The Oasis does not exist to be a hot seller. It exists to round out the entire family of Kindles.
