Overdrive seems to be active only when in the US. I loaded a couple of books from overdrive from within the KA1 before my recent trip and when they expired while abroad the overdrive option was missing for me to renew them. Looks like its hidden based on geolocation. My only option was to download from the overdrive website, use ADE and move them to the device via USB.
And the Overdrive option appeared when I was back in the US. Hope this helps.
