On Friday, I finished Isaac Asimov Presents: The Best Science Fiction of the 19th Century, an anthology of early SF that I've had for many years and don't remember buying. It was so-so, but, importantly, it seems to be the last anthology/collection in my library that I actually paid money for*. In my third year of reading a short story every day, I have finally cleared out all of the old clutter.
I still have plenty of short stories kicking around. I still have many magazines, lots of freebie collections and anthologies, some from bundles, all those Eric Flint-edited retro collections from Baen, quite a few out-of-copyright collections, etc, but I feel I have finally done enough that I can drop my daily short story requirement from next year's Challenge. I'm still going to try to see out this year, though.
*I'm not going to count Century of Wonder edited by Leigh Grossman, since that is more of a textbook and includes non-fiction, poetry, and entire(?) novels, as well as what looks to be about 133 stories. I guess I can get stuck into it now, though.
