That's one of the reasons that I use Calibre Companion on the iPad. I can browse for a book in all sorts of ways, by author, by title, by series, by category by tag. Both Amazon and Apple seem to think that people rarely have more that a handful of books at a given time, and have designed their reader apps based on that philosophy.
