I hear ya. Had a few of those myself. But if it's a good book I have replaced it with a hardback or cloth version, one with acid free paper. I almost never buy mass market paperbacks. Many times I usually get ebooks as backup copies to ones I already own.
I recently visited Washington D.C. and saw Jefferson's Library. Amazing. I
love old books.
