Your choices are:
1) live with Amazon software until, if ever, a software jailbreak is developed
2) trade your current kindle in for one with an earlier firmware that can jailbreak
3) follow serial jailbreak instructions in that thread, keeping in mind you must open the unit and use proper hardware with fragile connections on the board
