Well, "Reset Device" erased important parts of the jailbreak.
So re-install the jailbreak.

Then update to the most recent, 5.6.1.1 version firmware.
The communication protocols used by earlier firmwares are no longer supported by the Amazon network.

And it is not a "Kindle Gen 1" - the first generation Kindles did not have a touch screen and none of them run 5.x series firmware.

Use the first six characters of the device's serial number and this table:

to learn what model nickname we use here to identify exactly what model a person is discussing.

The "generation x" phrases are from the Marketing department, and as such are unreliable.
