For me it's the opposite. With my diabetes regular sugar is a no no. If I am very low and need a quick boost back towards normal then I may have some regular soda in a pinch. Like the other week. I was out and about and had run short of the fruit bars I carry when I go out. My blood sugar was 52. Way too low. So I bought a bottle of regular coke and drank a little bit.
