In the old days, aka 2 years ago, I didn't have cellular data, or very limited, so I wanted everything on my phone.
Now that I have cellular data, I keep somewhere between 2 and 20 books on my phone. Any thing else I suddenly want to read is accessible from Amazon's cloud, or Overdrive.
