No, the Kobo devices do not have a separate title sort. Whatever is in the title is what is displayed and is how the title sorting works (with the exceptions of articles such as "the" and "a"). The same goes for the name and the series sort in the firmware versions that have it. And the series sort largely removes the need to add the series info into change the title. That part of the guide is a little bit out of date.

I would recommend removing the title changing part of the plugboard for the future. You can fix the metadata for books already on the device with my Kobo Utilities plugin.
