@ColMac - if a book has multiple authors e.g. Jane Doe & Mary Smith there will only be an author folder for the primary author - i.e. Jane Doe.
A search for formats:false will show you the books with no format files.
I wouldn't use WDS for counting things by type, I'd use my 3rd party file manager (xplorer˛) or Agent Ransack.
