[iOS] Error Communicating with Device

Recently I purchased a new iMac. I used Migration Assistant to copy all apps and data over from the old iMac which had Calibre working beautifully.

When I start Calibre on the new iMac, I get a problem connecting via Calibre Companion on my iPad, which is new. It gives me the following error:

Error communicating with device

Device responded with incorrect information

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 88, in run

ControlError: Device responded with incorrect information

Someone else described a similar problem but I saw no fix mentioned in that post. it was asked if he had enough space. I know space isn't the problem here.

I've tried restarting both Calibre and Calibre Companion, and also stopping/restarting the wireless connection. All have failed.

I never had this problem using Calibre on the older iMac.

I would appreciate any assistance, suggestions, or tips to get this resolved.

thanks!
