Bujold's Vorkosigan saga won Best Series, and most (all?) of those have been published by Baen, so that's one exception.
Looking at the winners, I've also read Seanan McGuire's Every Heart A Doorway, and I liked it a lot. It's a really good take on the problem that
xkcd desribes here.
I've been meaning to read Jemisin for a while, but as I understand it, she writes pretty dark books, so I have to be in mood for it.
