I don't know WHAT they were talking about. I just called Motorola and they insist my phone should be fully compatible with AT&T. Maybe I should just have Amazon replace the 16gb phone with the 32gb version I ordered, then get the nano SIM card from AT&T, try it, and see what happens. But at this point I'm so annoyed and frustrated I feel like just sending it back and forgetting about the whole thing.

P.S. I just saw a review at Amazon where someone's complaining about not being able to set up the phone on Verizon or Sprint.
