Not working: I mean it seems to have absolutely no effect. The screen doesn't seem to flash, it doesn't restart and the tar.gz file remains where i put it. So, in Kindle (F I have:
- folder "Documents" (Modified 14:29)
- folder "system" (Modified 13:48)
- file "main-htmlviewer.tar.gz" (Modified 16:30)

I tried installing the hotfix, wanting to check if maybe it worked without me realizing it, but it says update error (invalid file or something, I can try again if needed).

Is that what you are looking for from the logs?

It did call the script, but that script did not return any status value.
(only the first line of those messages applies to your trying the searchbar command).

Please, I am having trouble tracking everything today -
What device?
What is the current firmware version (with build number shown in parans)?
Home screen -> Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> Device Info
And on the same information panel, the first six characters of the serial number.
