Interesting. It seems that if I connect it to my hotspot, turn off the hotspot and wait a while then turn the hotspot back on again, the kindle does not automatically reconnect to the wifi until I press buttons (I still see the flash on the screen from eips running). I'll have to see if there's more detailed information on this process on this site (no doubt there's a command to unsuspend the wifi). I haven't been able to reproduce the "no wifi at all" issue so far. I think it may have been a one-off but will try again next time I'm in Nashville.
