knc1, you are correct about the timestamps and I realized that a bit later. I was thrown off by the date being wrong and I have worked with systems with non-standard timestamps before. I twigged a bit later but unfortunately, it's so far out, it becomes complicated. Doubly so because I did change the time to be correct at one point in case that was causing the issue (I don't believe there's an easy way to change the date from the UI).

I'm running with the temperature being high at the moment. I'll do some experimenting to see if I can repeat the issue. 29C is only 84F though so that seems a bit low to be cutting off wifi.
True, but easy to do from the KUAL menu. (or from the main search bar)
The time and date KUAL menu entry sets date and time from NTP servers.
The main searchbar command entry is manual.

Take the device off of the charger, turn it off, let it cool down (inside, where it takes a rather long time to cool down).

See if your symptoms change.

As far as interference goes:

see lead picture.

Scroll to near the end of the article to see an example of using the iwlist command. (which is installed on your Kindle)

Just because your meeting was public does not mean that someone did not forget to turn off the Wifi suppression gear after the last non-public meeting.
Noising about a little with the iwlist command would probably have shown you what was going on.
(If you want 'stand alone' operation - install kTerm)
