Grabbed
this freebie from Kobo Canada last week. This was my first by writer Connie Shelton. I thoroughly enjoyed it and immediately bought the boxed set of this series (
Samantha Sweet Mysteries Boxed Set Books 1-4).
I enjoyed it mostly because it was light and entertaining. It was basically a solid cozy mystery. It's not going to be the best book I've read this year or anything like that, it was just a nice read that kept me wanting more stories about this very interesting and a little bit quirky character. It was fun, it was suspenseful, and many parts of the protagonist's life were interesting to me.
Also, I really appreciated that the spelling and grammar was almost perfect. Nowadays with so much self-publishing and small-publishing and independent publishers trying to grab our attention, my attention was grabbed by someone or some team who knows how to properly string a sentence together. This was a first time in a long time I was able to read a book by an independent publisher that didn't distract me with syntax or spelling errors.
Kudos to Connie Shelton and her team. Once I finish reading book 4, I will be buying more Samantha Sweet mysteries in the near future.
