I put a large text in my previous post, but knc1 is right - if you want to stop the update, you can peel off the front bezel, unscrew about 10 screws, pull the screen out, and unplug the battery :-)

Unfortunately, when you put the battery back in, it will still try the same update file!

At that point, you are in the territory of being able to hook up the serial port, and you would in fact be able to stop the update that way.
