After a hurricane, a guy came in to a chat room claiming that a pawn shop had stolen his stuff because the store was closed. Had the guy either looked on the door, looked on the website or called one of the other same name shops in the area, he would have found or been given an 800 number to find out when and where he could either get his stuff back or the cash value of it. When someone called his bluff, he admitted that he had actually lost his stuff (didn't pay back the loan on time) before the hurricane. He thought by claiming they stole it on the internet, he would force the company to give him some money.
Note: every one of that pawn shop stores had the number in case someone called.
