  1. Flexibility.I prune those sporadically, and almost everything in those tags is still free in at least one venue and region, many for several years, now. You can't do that with a single megathread entry, at least not on this forum's software.
  2. Easier to post repeats, which tend to occur at intervals of at least a year from the publishers who still give us stuff, these days.

    Most of the megathreads get locked after they rotate. You can't click Edit to retrieve and then copy-paste the info from an old post after that, not without having to redo any formatting and all the links. And if you want to quote a locked post, you have to manually construct the quote with the poster's name and the appropriate post reference number, since the forum software will no longer do it for you with 1-click.

    Maybe some members would be willing to go through that extra effort. Personally, I wouldn't bother.
  3. Personal preference.

    This is the way I myself prefer to see free ebooks posted, so this is how I do it.

    All MR members are free to post whatever they wish to share, in whichever manner they please, within the bounds of the forum rules. If someone wishes to see things shared in a particular way, well, there's an obvious corollary to that.
